Gatsby: He Truly Is Great!

So a few weeks ago, I did helped with my boyfriend's book report for his English class. They were reading The Great Gatsby, so I pulled up the SparkNotes and read away. By the time I finished the report, I was convinced that this was one of the worst books I've ever read (and that's really saying something. I'm looking at you, Wanted: Mud Blossom). However, when the movie came out, my mother said it was absolutely fantastic and that I had to go see it. My friend Angie posted on Facebook asking who wanted to see it with her, so I thought hey, why not?

Well, my mother turned out to be absolutely right: it was fantastic.

Here's a quick summary of the movie:

So, Spiderman moves to a nice little cottage on Long Island, right next door to Jack from Titanic. Jack lives right across the lake from the guy who killed Osama bin Laden, who is married to this random blonde chick, who is Spiderman's cousin. Anyways, Jack's heart goes on and on for Random Blonde Chick and, as a result, he throws crazy parties at his crazy house to try and get her attention. He ultimately does, and they begin a love affair ...Guy Who Killed Osama bin Laden doesn't like the fact that Random Blonde Chick loves Jack back. Random Blonde Chick hits Guy Who Killed Osama bin Laden's mistress with a car and kills her, the mistress' husband thinks it was Jack, Jack gets shot and dies in water. Yet again. Spiderman goes crazy and ends up in a mental care facility. THE END.

Oh, I forgot the part about the dubstep! (Yes. Dubstep.)

It sounds strange, but it was probably one of the best-made movies I've ever seen. The modern music mixed with the old-timey footage actually meshed very well together. My favorite scene was when Spiderman (okay, fine, Nick) was at the party in Myrtle's apartment and there was a mix of "I Can't Stop" playing over everything. That was amazing.

My train of thought is dying. That's all.

My Latest Obsession

Alright, I'm obsessed. Some things just have a certain "look."

Since I'm on summer break, I decided my iPhone needed a summery update. My current case, a once-cute-now-very-faded VW van print, just isn't doing it for me anymore. I took to Wanelo (my go-to when I want a Pinterest-y feel but actually want to be able to buy something specific) and wasn't disappointed. Society6, a site dedicated to artsy cases, art prints, and everything else, has a huge selection of designs ranging from mustaches to polar bears to "Hakuna Matata." Although a bit pricey, their cases are definitely the cutest out there, and they just look like summer! Pink and turquoise Aztec print? Sign me up!
At $35 each, they're a tad more than what I'd like to spend, but when you find "the one," what's a few extra bucks? I know what I'm doing with my next paycheck ...

gotta start somewhere!

alright. this is probably my third blog, but i just never really got into the groove of posting regularly! hopefully this will become a habit soon enough ... i figure the first post is the most awkward, so i'll get this out of the way by posting a bit about me.

i'm a completely pinterest-obsessed, grammatically perfectionistic (except when it comes to capitalization online .... disclaimer ...), DIY project-loving, extremely disorganized, very blonde, very ADHD (yes, diagnosed), early-college "smart kid"with too much time on my hands and a penchant for starting random projects at random times (such as that time last summer at 2 in the morning when i saw a pin with a tutorial for bleaching your own shorts and just couldn't wait until the next day).

whew. that was a long sentence.

anywho.

i can't say exactly what all will end up on here. it'll probably end up like me: a little bit of everything smushed together to make something one part quirky, two parts fun, with a cup of crazy mixed in.

but, hey. not knowing is part of the fun, right?
