A5 Filofax/Half Page Planner Printable: Income Register!

I just got my very first Filofax. I absolutely love it, and it has completely taken over my life. It is my brain, it keeps me sane ... and it has me spending hours on Pinterest every day searching for the perfect printables. Free, of course. Broke college kids can't be spending money on this stuff!
Well, I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I made this!
I used to just record my deposits and such on my week-on-two-pages planner, but it was getting too crowded, so I needed to make something that would fit my needs.

With my system, I input who the check is from, how much it was, whether or not it has been deposited, and whether or not I have entered it into my income spreadsheet. Yay! It's exactly a half sheet of paper, so it should fit any half-sheet planner, but it is designed specifically for an A5 Filofax. Enjoy!

Gatsby: He Truly Is Great!

So a few weeks ago, I did helped with my boyfriend's book report for his English class. They were reading The Great Gatsby, so I pulled up the SparkNotes and read away. By the time I finished the report, I was convinced that this was one of the worst books I've ever read (and that's really saying something. I'm looking at you, Wanted: Mud Blossom). However, when the movie came out, my mother said it was absolutely fantastic and that I had to go see it. My friend Angie posted on Facebook asking who wanted to see it with her, so I thought hey, why not?

Well, my mother turned out to be absolutely right: it was fantastic.

Here's a quick summary of the movie:

So, Spiderman moves to a nice little cottage on Long Island, right next door to Jack from Titanic. Jack lives right across the lake from the guy who killed Osama bin Laden, who is married to this random blonde chick, who is Spiderman's cousin. Anyways, Jack's heart goes on and on for Random Blonde Chick and, as a result, he throws crazy parties at his crazy house to try and get her attention. He ultimately does, and they begin a love affair ...Guy Who Killed Osama bin Laden doesn't like the fact that Random Blonde Chick loves Jack back. Random Blonde Chick hits Guy Who Killed Osama bin Laden's mistress with a car and kills her, the mistress' husband thinks it was Jack, Jack gets shot and dies in water. Yet again. Spiderman goes crazy and ends up in a mental care facility. THE END.

Oh, I forgot the part about the dubstep! (Yes. Dubstep.)

It sounds strange, but it was probably one of the best-made movies I've ever seen. The modern music mixed with the old-timey footage actually meshed very well together. My favorite scene was when Spiderman (okay, fine, Nick) was at the party in Myrtle's apartment and there was a mix of "I Can't Stop" playing over everything. That was amazing.

My train of thought is dying. That's all.

My Latest Obsession

Alright, I'm obsessed. Some things just have a certain "look."

Since I'm on summer break, I decided my iPhone needed a summery update. My current case, a once-cute-now-very-faded VW van print, just isn't doing it for me anymore. I took to Wanelo (my go-to when I want a Pinterest-y feel but actually want to be able to buy something specific) and wasn't disappointed. Society6, a site dedicated to artsy cases, art prints, and everything else, has a huge selection of designs ranging from mustaches to polar bears to "Hakuna Matata." Although a bit pricey, their cases are definitely the cutest out there, and they just look like summer! Pink and turquoise Aztec print? Sign me up!
At $35 each, they're a tad more than what I'd like to spend, but when you find "the one," what's a few extra bucks? I know what I'm doing with my next paycheck ...

gotta start somewhere!

alright. this is probably my third blog, but i just never really got into the groove of posting regularly! hopefully this will become a habit soon enough ... i figure the first post is the most awkward, so i'll get this out of the way by posting a bit about me.

i'm a completely pinterest-obsessed, grammatically perfectionistic (except when it comes to capitalization online .... disclaimer ...), DIY project-loving, extremely disorganized, very blonde, very ADHD (yes, diagnosed), early-college "smart kid"with too much time on my hands and a penchant for starting random projects at random times (such as that time last summer at 2 in the morning when i saw a pin with a tutorial for bleaching your own shorts and just couldn't wait until the next day).

whew. that was a long sentence.

anywho.

i can't say exactly what all will end up on here. it'll probably end up like me: a little bit of everything smushed together to make something one part quirky, two parts fun, with a cup of crazy mixed in.

but, hey. not knowing is part of the fun, right?

dating ... whose line is it anyways?

so recently, my english teacher made the announcement that every student, no matter their age, dreads with passion: "we're going to be doing a research paper!"

most students responded with moans and groans of annoyance, but i did not. (not entirely, anyways) this is because an idea for a topic had just struck me like a volleyball to the face! i knew immediately: i would research the topic of casual dating versus dating "with a purpose". i even had some sources already picked out.

i'm sure you've all heard of joshua harris' book, i kissed dating goodbye. somewhat radical-sounding? yes. completely lifechanging? also, yes. i've read this book before, along with the sequel: boy meets girl. the two focus on how the dating game today isn't what God would have it be and how we, as modern people living today, can understand better how to find a partner for life. very nice, very nice.

while i'm only three days into my research, the gold nuggets just keep popping up! here are just a few to think about:

"after all, when we engage in guy-girl relationships, we're not always choosing between absolute right and absolute wrong. often the choice is between what's good and what's best." (harris 20)

"but when [we change our] perspective and [realize our] friendships with guys are opportunities to love them as Christ would, [we] take a 180-degree turn from flirtatiousness to honest, sincere love that treats guys as brothers, not potential boyfriends." (harris 50)

"the world will know we follow Christ by the way we love others. for this reason, we must practice love as God defines it-- sincere, servant-hearted, and selfless-- not the world's brand of selfish and sensual love based on what feels good." (harris 50)

pretty interesting stuff. i wouldn't say exactly that i've completely given up on dating quite yet, but these books are definitely giving me something to think about. and while the term "kissing dating goodbye" can carry some negative connotations with it, i encourage you to go to the library, pick up the book, and give it a read. even if it's just for the sake of being able to say you've read it ... seriously.

there's definitely something better out there than this idea of 3-month, date-'em-and'dump-'em, looks-based "love". i promise you that there is. and when i find out just how that works, i'll be sure to let y'all know.

alrighty, enough writing for now. i have notes to take, geometric whatchamacallits to study, bored friends to text, rooms to clean! too much fun. 'till then, darlings.

^just in case i needed that. better safe than sorry!

I'M BACK!!

okay, so i haven't written anything in quite a while (several months, actually), but now, i'm back! for realsies this time. apparently writers should have about 5 years of experience before actually attempting to publish anything, so i thought a blog would be a nice way to start.

i want to eventually start putting up some video posts, just because, so we'll see what happens with that.

alrighty, now down to business:

i'll start with a brief recap of what's been going on with me lately ...

so school has started, of course. it's been going pretty well, seeing as i almost had a 4.0 last quarter. darn college prep school! i've been going to gymnastics weekly, in preparation for competitive cheer season, which started last week!! i'm so excited. i made the varsity competitive team and am in all three rounds, so that means my schedule is about to get pretty hectic! it goes something like this:

  • monday: practice from 6:15-9 pm

  • tuesday: practice from 6:15-9 pm

  • wednesday: gymnastics from 3:30-4:45 pm

  • thursday: gymnastics from 3:30-4:45 pm, practice from 6:15-9 pm

  • friday: practice from 6:15-9 pm

  • saturday: practice from 8:30 am - 12 pm

yep, competitive cheer season is in full swing! i'll try to update regularly about that.

as for any other interesting things ... oh yes. i can't forget about my birthday! i turned sweet sixteen exactly a week ago. there isn't much to say about it, actually ... no cars, no huge bash, it wasn't a big deal. my parents put together a nice little semi-surprise party, i bought myself a kindle (SO EXCITED), it was lovely.

however, the spotlight wasn't on me for long, because my sister's birthday is exactly a week later-- making it today.

well, this has been lovely, but i have homework to get to, and none of you imaginary people out there probably enjoy reading about my personal life anyways.

'till then, lovelies!

computer servers & love

you know, i just wrote this long, intense post about love. it was so great, pretty witty, and really long. did i mention that it was really long and took me forever to type out on my puny little phone keyboard? yeah. i went to publish it and *poof*. it disappeared. well, sort of. all that was left was "you know what's confusing? love. what        ". yeah. very insightful. for once in my life, the "copy-just-in-case-you-lose-it" method failed me: phones apparently have a different idea of "select all".

that's all. no way i'm trying to redo that whole thing. computers and love: who needs 'em?!
